- Are you selling wireless service?
- No. Wireless on Water, LLC is the name of our company. We don’t sell wireless service, we make great remote products which control virtually any electrical device on your boat.
- Can I use my WOW system for my windlass or hoist?
- Yes. Depending on the current draw of your particular device, you may need relays to handle the required current.
- How long is the system’s range?
- 1,000 feet or more. Range will be impacted by many variables including weather, orientation, structures and electronic device interference.
- How much current does the WOW system handle?
- The standard system will support 10 amps per circuit or 50 amps total for the module. The system will automatically protect itself from over current conditions. Additional current carrying capability is possible through the use of external relays.
- What do I have to do to remotely control AC systems?
- Use of an AC relay is recommended to control AC systems.
- Why do you call the remote a ROB?
- It stands for a Remote On/off Board which clearly describes the purpose and function of the Remote.
- Does the ROB float?
- Yes. It has been tested with one boat key.
- Will my remote (ROB) activate systems on my neighbor’s boat?
- No. While you can easy train up to 32 ROB’s to work with one Intelligent Processing Module, your ROB’s will not activate systems on your neighbor’s boat or visa versa.
- Does my SOS button have to activate both the horn and lights in combination?
- You have the flexibility to set up the system to activate lighting and horn separately or together.
- What is the “Pass Through Protection” and what does it mean to me?
- If for any reason the Intelligent Processing Module fails, you can simply unplug the connectors from the module and then connect them into each other to simply and completely bypass the system.
- How much current does the system draw when it is off?
- Less than one milliamp (mA) average.
- How long will the batteries in the ROB last?
- 5 years typical at 10 activations per day
- Can I add more ROB’s to the system later?
- Yes, you can add up to 32 to the system in total.
- Is the ROB Waterproof? Yes.
Purchasing and Warranty
- Do you sell thru distributors?
- Yes, please see our distributor section for a distributor. Some of our distributors sell and install our products.
- How do I become a distributor and what are the requirements?
- So long as you are company in good standing, we would love to have you join the crew. You will need to complete a short questionnaire that provides us with some background on your company and your capabilities
- Do you ship COD?
- No. We do accept checks and credit cards. The use of checks may delay shipping until the check clears our bank.
- How long is the product warranted?
- One year.
Installation & Service
- Does WOW install the product?
- No. However, some of our distributors do install. The system is so easy to install that nearly any marine mechanic or even a friend that understands basic wiring could install.
- How long does it take to install?
- Typically 2 – 3 hours on most boats.
- Is it difficult to install?
- No. Even most of our salespeople can do it!
- Where can I get the product installed?
- Most marinas have mechanics that can install the system. Also, you can check your local yellow pages for marine mechanics.
